Ten unbeaten for Division One Central play-off chasers

Thame United are a team who don’t know when they are beaten. In fact, they haven’t tasted defeat for ten games now.

That record looked like coming to an end last weekend when they found themselves three goals down after just half-an-hour at home to Flackwell Heath.

However, four goals in less than quarter-of-an-hour saw them head into the half-time interval 4-3 to the good and that’s how the scoreline remained as they moved level on points with Hertford Town, who are currently occupying the final play-off place.

“Our recent form has been great,” beamed manager, Ben Williams. “To go ten games unbeaten is a real achievement, especially during what has been a stop-start period due to the weather.

“There’s plenty of resilience and determination within the group, as was demonstrated in our last game. When we went three goals down, we didn’t panic, we just kept on trying to do the right things until it all eventually clicked into place.

“It sets it up for an exciting run-in to the end of the season. We will lose a game again; it’s about how we react to it when it happens.

“This form is down to not making too many changes. We have a settled squad and a fantastic team spirit. Everyone knows exactly what their roles and responsibilities are when they step onto the pitch.

“We’re in a competitive League, which is still very tight at both ends of the table. A couple of wins can make a big difference and it means that there are still a large number of teams with something very much to play for.

“This weekend we head to Beaconsfield Town on their 3G surface. They are one of a group of teams just behind us who are chasing us down and hoping to make the top five.

“We’re taking it one game at a time, so our only focus right now is what will happen on Saturday at Beaconsfield. We want to finish as high as possible; the League table won’t lie come the end of the season. We will be where we deserve to be.

“It was an awful start to the season for us and we remained at the bottom going into October, so to get from where we were then to now only emphasises what a good group we have here with plenty of character and determination.

“I want to keep enjoying watching us play!”
