Shaftesbury are back on the road again on Monday as their quest for Step 3 football continues.
Having beaten Winchester City 2-0 on Wednesday, their next challenge sees them head for the Hills as they take on Malvern Town in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South Play-Off Final.
Charlie Rayfield is ready to roll his sleeves up once more as he looks forward to the action.
“The semi-final was an unreal shift from the lads,” he told us. “We fully deserved to go through; we were the better team in the first half and although they edged it after the break, we defended so well to get through.
“The Final will be tough, especially also being away from home again in front of a big crowd, but we’re looking forward to it.
“Malvern are a strong side and it will be a real battle out there. We need to enjoy the occasion because we know that we’re good enough to get the job done.
“Our travelling fans will have an important role to play. They are always so supportive and will be our 12th man once more. Hopefully they can help push us over the line.”
We ended by asking Rayfield for his assessment of the season.
“It’s been great,” he responded with a smile. “We’ve travelled to Land’s End and back throughout the season, so that has taken its toll, but there’s a never-say-die spirit amongst this group and we can’t wait to give it one last shot on Monday to see what we can achieve.”
