There’s a new man at the helm of Stamford AFC with Anthony Fenton taking charge of the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central club earlier this month.
A former professional with the likes of Manchester City and Portsmouth, his coaching career has taken him to The National League, Welsh Premier, Southern League as well as the EFL where he was part of the Sutton United backroom staff.
“Having recently moved to live nearby, I have been keeping an eye out for opportunities locally at Step 2/3,” Fenton told his club’s media. “So this opportunity came up at just the right time for me and I am grateful to have the chance to take over at the helm.
“It’s been a busy first week; I have managed to speak to all of the players on the phone and will be having face-to-face meetings over the next couple of weeks.
“Of course, some of them will have offers from elsewhere, but we will see how the discussions go and then we’ll have a better idea of what we need going forward.
“We’ve also been putting our pre-season schedule in place, so it’s been busy and it’s sure to get even busier as we go along.
“I will be looking to play with high energy and intensity. I want us to play with good shape and be organised. There will be plenty of running and demands on the players.
“I’ve only been here a short time, but this is an amazing place to be an the facilities are great… I can’t wait to get out there and start preparing for the new season.”
