Milestone reached for Nat Beecher during positive campaign

Now that the dust has settled on the 2025/26 season, MK Irish can reflect upon a campaign full of positives.

The Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club adapted to their new surroundings well following promotion to secure a place in the middle of the table with 58 points from their 42 League games.

Another positive was seeing the popular Nat Beecher become the first player to reach the 200-appearance milestone for the club.

A regular in the starting line-up since 2020, Beecher plays with his heart on his sleeve.

“Being the first player to reach this milestone is a fantastic achievement for me personally,” he told us. “The management have always shown faith in me and given me the opportunity to be part of the squad over the years, so I’m very grateful for that.

“There’s no real secret behind it. All I can do is turn up to training, work hard and do my best for the team every time I step onto the pitch.”

So how would he assess the 2025/26 season for himself and the team as a whole?

“As a team, I think we struggled a bit at the start because this was a new level for a lot of the squad, and that showed early on in the season,” he admitted. “But we stuck together, found our form and achieved our main aim of staying in the league.

“Personally, it’s been a bit of a mixed season. Picking up an injury at the start didn’t help, but overall I’ve enjoyed testing myself against stronger opposition compared to previous seasons.

“I realised straight away that Division One Central was a big step up from the Spartan South Midlands League. Teams are much fitter, more organised and they punish mistakes far more often.

“I also learned quickly that you can’t go into any game expecting an easy afternoon because every side is competitive.

“Now we have our first season under our belt, I’d love to see the club go on from here and finish in the top half of the table next season and even push for a play-off spot.”
