EXMOUTH TOWN | STEADY AND SOLID

Long-serving manager assesses the season and looks ahead

Whilst they missed out on making the play-offs this season, Exmouth Town’s eighth place finish in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South represents another solid campaign.

“Yes, I’d say it was a steady and solid season for us,” long-serving manager, Kevin Hill told his club’s media. “That’s our fourth season in a row at this level, which in itself is a real achievement, and another top ten finish, so it’s something to be positive about.

“Plenty of hard work goes into it, both on and off the pitch. Looking at the teams coming into our League for next season, we know that the competition is going to be even tougher.

“The likes of Weymouth, Dorchester Town and Tiverton Town will be strong, but we’ll go out there, have fun and see where we can take things.

“I’m happy with my team and where we’re at. I want to try and make our home more of a fortress; we’ve picked up some decent results on our travels but we know that having a good record at home is important and gives us something to build on.

“Similarly, our mindset has let us down against some of the teams lower down the table. When we’re the favourites to win, we don’t tend to handle it as well as when we’re up against those teams that are higher up the table.

“It’s something that we need to look at and work on.”
