The month of March has certainly seen Hadley put a spring into their step in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central.
It started with a resounding 6-0 victory over North Leigh before they went to leaders, Bedford Town and came home with a 3-2 triumph.
That proved to be the catalyst for a good draw at Kings Langley and further victories over Hertford Town and Kempston Rovers on Tuesday evening, where they bagged another six goals.
Playing a pivotal role in the upturn in fortunes is striker, Isaac Stones, who started the month with a four-goal haul and has followed it up with a further three goals, including a brace in the last game.
“To go away and get six goals as we did on Tuesday night was fantastic,” Stones told us. “It was a great game and all of the lads played really well.
“I was delighted to do my job and get a couple of the goals, whilst a few lads who’ve not been playing as much recently came in and really raised the bar. All over the pitch everyone won their individual battles and the final scoreline is testament to that.
“Our recent form is a reward for the faith that the manager and coaches have placed in us this season. We’re only a young squad but things are really starting to come together for us at the right time.
“We also have so many good people behind-the-scenes supporting us who go above and beyond to ensure that everything is in place for the players to perform. Our loyal fans have also spurred us on countless times this year, so it’s good to be able to give them something to cheer about.
“I am happy leading the line and scoring goals My target at the outset so to hit that with eight games still to go is incredible.
“My team-mates have certainly made my job easier and with the amount of chances they have created for me, I should really have double the figure that I have!”
The overriding thoughts on Division One Central this season has been how close it is, with everyone more than capable of beating each other.
“The League has been very strange,” Stones added. “You never know quite what to expect and that makes for a very interesting and competitive competition.
“It’s a strong League and this shows through in the results.
“We’re just looking to continue enjoying our football and hopefully build on the momentum of winning games. It’s a case of looking up the table now rather than over our shoulder and seeing if we can create something really special together by finishing as high as we can.”
Saturday sees them head to Leighton Town before hosting Welwyn Garden City on Bank Holiday Monday.
