With one win from their ten Pitching In Southern League Premier Central outings so far, it’s been a slower start to the season that Worcester City would have liked.
But one of the plus points has been the form of Jordan Lymn who has taken to the added demands of Step 3 like a duck to water. In fact, his consistent displays have earned him the club’s Player of the Month accolade for September.
“I’m happy with my own start to the season,” he told us. “I’ve grown into each game and I feel I’ve managed to have contributions offensively and defensively when I’ve played.
“Obviously it’s easier to discuss your own personal performance when the team is winning, but I feel I’ve had a solid start. There’s still plenty more to come, of course, but I am working hard to keep improving.
“The club’s growth over the last few years has been phenomenal. Off the pitch we have come on leaps and bounds since I joined and it makes a huge difference within the dressing room.
“The progress is clear for everyone to see and is credit to all the hard work that goes on behind-the-scenes.
“We have achieved back-to-back promotions, which is an incredible achievement for all involved, and credit should go to all the volunteers, backroom staff, players and all those that work so hard to keep this club ticking over.
“We knew this League was going to be tough and there would be no easy games. It’s a big step up from last season, but one that we are all relishing and adapting to.
“As the season goes on and we begin to establish ourselves, everyone will see the quality we have within the squad and I truly believe we’ll be pushing towards the play-offs.
“That said, the main aim for us as a club is to remain in this league and establish ourselves. To be able to get a season under our belts at this level and look to build on next year will be massive.
“So that’s a realistic aim, but I believe that with the quality we have in this squad and the effort that goes into each training session and game, we should be looking to push on into the top half.
“We’ve had a tricky start to the season, there’s no denying that, but there have been plenty of positives that we can take into the games ahead.
“We have the quality in the changing room to make a statement this season, it’s just taking a little longer than we thought to be shown.”
The club are going pink on Saturday in support of Pink October as they show their support to the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, which is the only breast cancer charity in the county, dedicated to supporting local patients through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
Now in its ninth year, the charity continues the incredible work. Since opening, the Unit has cared for more than 15,000 women and over 2,000 men, providing both medical and emotional support beyond what the NHS can offer.
Recent projects funded by the charity include a dedicated metastatic Breast Care Nurse, complementary therapies such as massage and acupuncture, chemotherapy care packs, and wellbeing sessions including mindfulness and Pink Ribbon Pilates.
There will be various events and fund-raising at Sixways Stadium on Saturday as Bishop’s Stortford provide the opposition – even the Matchday Programme has had a pink makeover for the occasion!
On the pitch, both teams will be looking to bounce back from disappointing defeats on Tuesday evening.
