Bury Town certainly left it late to secure their third straight away win at the weekend and in doing so, stretch their current unbeaten run to seven games.
Trailing 1-0 at St. Ives Town with 97 minutes on the clock, Cemal Ramadan popped up with an equaliser and there was still time for substitute, Ollie Canfer to grab the winner.
“First and foremost, this was a great result for the team against an opponent in and around us in the table,” Cemal Ramadan told us. “The manner in which we got the win made it even more special, but even though we left it so late, it was no more than what we deserved.
“Personally, I am so happy to be back involved in the action and it was nice to play my part with the equalising goal.
“It’s a chance for us to really kick on now. We’ve got ourselves on a good run through December and January and with a busy schedule ahead in February, it’s an opportunity for us carry it on and maybe turn some of the draws into victories.
“We won’t look too far ahead, though, because the way we do things here is to take things a game at a time.”
Ramadan is approaching a decade at the club, during which time he has almost 200 goals to his name to help the club reach Step 3 for the first time.
“I am proud of my record at the club,” he added. “There have been some fantastic memories, but I must admit that there have been times over the past few months when I thought that I would never wear the shirt again, let alone add to my goals tally.
“So, to get back on the pitch and get my name on the scoresheet at the weekend was a very special moment for me personally.
“Ever since I first walked through the door as a 19 year-old, this club has looked after me. This is such a special place to play football and I have so much to be thankful for.”
So, how has Ramadan and his team-mates found the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central so far this term?
“It’s certainly a competitive League,” he replied without hesitation. “Going into it at the start of the season it was very unknown to us, hence why it took a while to adjust to the new teams and the increased travelling.
“We are finding our feet now and hopefully we can have a strong finish over the last 15 games.”
Two successive home games await this week as they host Leiston on Tuesday before welcoming Quorn at the weekend.
