There has been a resurgence at Willand Rovers as they look to pull themselves away from relegation danger in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South.
Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over Mousehole AFC was their biggest win of the season and made it four wins out of their last five games.
“We were delighted to get straight back into winning ways following Saturday’s defeat,” assistant manager, Jack Furzer, told his club’s media. “It wasn’t pretty, but at this stage of the season it’s all about getting the three points.
“It was important that we responded in the right way to Saturday’s loss at Malvern and we did that.
“We’re in the great position of having a fully fit squad to choose from and with a busy schedule ahead, we are able to change things around and still make an impact, which is testament to the strength we now have within the group.
“The load will be shared in the weeks ahead; each game is important and the pleasing thing is that there are number of players chipping in with goals now rather than having to rely on one or two.
“We have to back up Wednesday’s win on Saturday when we host Swindon Supermarine in what is another ‘six-pointer’.
“We will attack the game from the off and, as we know only too well, to get anything in this League, you have to be right at it, which I am sure we will be.
“There is plenty of confidence and belief amongst the players right now. They have worked hard to get us into this position and this needs to continue so that we can finish the job off.”
