PLYMOUTH PARKWAY | FRESH ENERGY

There's no stopping the Premier South club right now

There’s no stopping Plymouth Parkway at the moment. Tuesday’s 2-1 triumph over high-flying Farnham Town was their fourth win of a five-game unbeaten run.

Part of the resurgence under the guidance of interim manager, Stuart Dudley, is Jensen Ireland.

“Tuesday night was a brilliant performance from everyone,” he told us. “It showed that even with injuries to key players, every member of the squad is capable of going toe-to-toe with any team in this League.

“From a personal point of view, it’s always a privilege to be starting for the club and giving 100% to help us climb the table.”

So, what’s the secret behind the recent upturn in form for the Devon club?

“As cliché as it sounds, I think that during these last five games we’ve just honed in on the basics, and done them brilliantly.

“We’ve made sure that we stick together as a team, back each other up and work as hard as we possibly can.

“We know that if we are able to do all of this, then our quality will shine through. We have the ability to score goals at one end of the pitch and keep them out at the other.

“I think the staff have been brilliant for the players too. They’ve brought a fresh energy and done a great job in galvanising the group and putting game plans in place that give us the best possible chance of winning football matches.

“This season has definitely been a roller-coaster for us; we know that as a group we’ve under-achieved, but we have the chance to end the season strongly and continue climbing the table.

“This has been my first season in men’s football and I have enjoyed it massively. I’ve started a lot of games and it has provided me with valuable experience and forced me to add different aspects to my game.

“Coming from a professional U18 environment, it has made me a better all-round footballer.”

With six games remaining, the latest challenge comes at second-placed Gloucester City at the weekend.

“We’re looking forward to the final run-in,” Ireland added. “We are dedicated and committed to keeping this club in the Premier South and we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure we get over the line.

“We’re aiming for maximum points for the remaining games and with the form we’re in we feel confident in getting a good haul of points.”
