MOUSEHOLE AFC | END OF AN ERA

Long-serving manager and Director of Football to step down at the end of the season

It’s going to be the end of an era at Mousehole AFC after long-serving manager, Jake Ash, along with Director of Football, Adam Fletcher, announced their decision to step down from their roles.

The duo have overseen the most successful and transformative period in the history of the club during the past eight years as they have established their place in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South.

“This club gave me my first opportunity in management and I couldn’t have wished for a better place to begin that journey,” said Ash. “What followed has been seven seasons that I will carry with me forever - two promotions, a play-off semi-final, unforgettable cup runs and my special players; some who have given years of service and tens of thousands of miles, to boys who have gone on to play in Europe, The Football League and beyond from our ranks.

“It has always been about the people. The players, the staff, the volunteers, the supporters, and my family - the ones who gave everything to something we were building together, often without anyone ever seeing what went into it.

“I’ve given everything I have to this role. And the truth is simple - my battery has run empty. I can feel it, and I know I can’t be the version of myself that is needed to drive this brilliant club forward.

“I leave with nothing but love, pride, and gratitude for what we built and what we stood for. We had so much that should have been against us, and at times it felt like a fairy tale. I’m so proud to have been a part of it.

“There is still time left this season to create a few more moments, and I am fully committed to finishing the job properly with this group.”

In the wake of the news breaking, Mousehole AFC went to play-off hopefuls, Bishops Cleeve, on Saturday and won 2-1. They now prepare for an Easter weekend that features a home game against Melksham Town on Good Friday before an Easter Monday Cornish derby at Falmouth Town.
